The Landing is a short story written by Anita Desai in 2007. There is a main character, a woman. There are many other people in her life but they are not named, they only exist in her life, basically that.
The story is about a woman who bought a house from 1743, moved to it and started listening and seeing things. Because of this, she became very strange. She started to work a lot, trying not go home or stay alone.
Actually, the most different thing is that Anita Desai describes every feeling of the woman so well that you can feel and live in her place. In my opinion, it is really creative and envolving. The most interesting thing in this short story is that the author didn’t need a lot of characters to make you pay attention to the text.

- What do you think has happened to the other people who moved to the house?
- Do you think that 'the presence' was real or just her imagination?
- would you live in a house like that? Why (not)?
